As the festive season approaches, our thoughts turn to the holidays and spending lots of time away from home with family and friends. But, don’t forget to use the following security tips for your home from your local locksmith.
Make Sure Your Locks Are Secure
It goes without saying that you should ensure that you have quality locks installed that are burglar-proof. This includes locks on all of your doors and your windows as well. And, don’t forget to lock your garage and your garden shed too.
You might even want to consider getting some smart locks installed before you head off. That way you can give a friend or neighbour access to your home while you’re away. Or, use our key cut services to cut an extra set of keys for them.
Put All Of Your Valuables Out Of Sight
Before heading off, make sure that you hide all of your valuables and don’t leave them in plain sight. This might be the perfect time to get a home safe installed in your home.
Upgrade Your Security System
Do you have a robust security system installed that incorporates a motion-activated sensor light and a CCTV recording system? If your home security is below par, now is the time to give us a call to discuss upgrading to a more robust system that will keep your home safe.
Ask A Trusted Neighbour To Keep An Eye On Your Property
Having a trusted neighbour keep an eye on your home while you’re away is one of the best ways to ensure that your property is safe. You could ask your neighbour to collect your mail, water your plants and turn your lights on and off. Make sure that you bring them back something special from your travels as a thank you.
Install An Automated Timer On Your Interior Lights
These days, it’s easier than ever to have your interior lights controlled automatically or even remotely. You could either have your lights on a timer so they come on every evening or install an app on your phone so that you can turn them on and off remotely.
