Private Security Licences are issued by Victoria Police. They are a legal requirement for any locksmith. They guarantee that the staff who take your call, the locksmith who visits you and any member of our organisation involved in restoring your security is safe and accredited.
Only those with private security licences can legally install security devices in your home or business.
The Private Security Licence requires its holder to:
- Be over 18 years old
- Undergo a national police check
- Be an Australian resident
- Be physically capable of performing the duties required of a Private Security practitioner
- Have 2 written references from other members of the industry outlining their suitability

Selected this company from eBay to get a couple of keys with transponders cut for a 2000 Rav 4 as I'm in Tasmania and they overcharge rediculoisly here. Toyota dealers charge $180 just for the key code. I had a "Black key" ( door key without transponder) to send them to match, they sent me two cut folding remotes back with my original. I had problems coding the new keys, so they followed up with further support to assist programing as Rav4s can be problematic at no extra charge. Their technicians were very helpful and easy to communicate with. Really saved me hundreds of dollars. Will be sending them more work in the future. Brilliant to deal with!

Excellent service. They were unable to cut my key due to not having the blanks as it was VERY OLD. They asked me to send photos of my locks and then researched to find someone that had the blanks. We had a security event at our which needed immediate responseI contacted David at Amalgamated Locksmiths, who was able to attend on the same day to provide a quote.He provided some great advice on how to address our security issues.It took a couple of days for the materials to be delivered, with COVID restrictions, and then David had the install done within 1 week. We appreciated the prompt response.There was some special fittings that needed to be hand made for our old windows. David went to a lot of trouble to get a good result, even matching the colour of the windows.We are very happy with the outcome from Amalgamated Locksmiths, and recommend them without reservation.

SCAMMERS!!! I Had Amalgamated out to my shop twice within 3 months to fix a front door lock barrel. Both times i was told i had to replace the whole door if i wanted to replace the lock. They charged me $250 to "service" it. It then broke again so i decided to go with a different company, they replaced the lock barrels and gave me two new keys for $225.........would not use!!!
