    What Are Victoria Power Industry Locks & Why Install Them?

    Victoria Power Industry Locks use the latest Lockwood keying technology (MT5+) to create a master key system that allows you to lock your meter box while still allowing access to meter readers with a key issued by a VESI group company.

    The VESI group comprises Victoria’s five major electricity companies, CitiPower, Powercor, SP AusNet, Jemena and United Energy. Any premises supplied with electricity by one of these companies is required to follow the 2014 Service & installation Rules document available on the VESI website.

    Id bought an antique jewellery box not realising it had no key. Locked my bling in and myself out.     Today I received excellent customer service from David and the team at Amalgamated Locksmiths in Collingwood. I had spoken with David on the phone last week and he was patient while I spent time explaning my problem, and informative about my how they could help. Today was exceptionally accommodating and patient again (even though I arrived right on clising time). His attitude is one of 'can do' not at all 'too hard' or you're asking too much'. This sort of attention, and willingness to work with someone on their challege, is exceptional, and despite there being a locksmith in my own neighbourhood (who was completely closed to the possibility of something out of the ordinary) I will definitely be using, and also highly recommending, Amalgamated in Collingwood for any future locksmith needs.     While meter box locks are not mandatory, if you do want to lock your meter box, you will need to have a Victoria Power Industry lock installed.

    Can I get a duplicate key for a VPI lock?

    You can get a duplicate key for your VPI lock as long as you provide us with the security codes on the original key and the security card.

    Where can I buy a VPI lock?

    Approved VPI locks can only be ordered from Assa Abloy, but we can help you to organise this and install the lock for you.

    Who can access a VPI lock?

    VPI locks can only be accessed using the key supplied to the home or business owner and meter readers who have been issued with a master key.

    Can emergency services access my locked meter box?

    No, emergency services can’t access your locked meter box but in most cases they shouldn’t have to because they can cut the power at the point of supply.
